There are a handful of seriously impressive organisations leading the way in global pollution control as well as funding research into clean energy production and carbon removal. Things like carbon capture technology and bio energy are exciting, modern innovations being explored. But simpler solutions that already exist in nature such as healthy soil management are also being promoted.

Clean Air Task Force
·Clean Air Task Force have taken on the challenge of trying to change a $25 trillion global energy system in a very short space of time. Thankfully their crack team of scientists, engineers, lawyers and policy experts are well positioned to do so.
In order to revolutionise the energy industry, CATF have their fingers in several pies. Their work supports innovative scientific research into carbon capture technology, advanced nuclear energy and bio energy while simultaneously advocating for global pollution control. By working together with governments and businesses alike, they’re able to provide direction and counsel on best environmental practice while also promoting new policy initiatives and financial incentives for the uptake of new technologies.

There is a real sense of urgency behind everything these folk do. They reiterate the point that we don’t have time to experiment with ideas and with that in mind, they’re funneling substantial investment into proven technological innovation now. These people are all about putting things into action fast and for that we take our hats off.
Carbon180
·When we talk about fighting climate change a lot of emphasis is put on lowering emissions and rightly so - this is of course critical. But the fact remains, without simultaneously removing the dangerously high levels of carbon that already exist in our atmosphere, we won’t reach the targets necessary to mitigate the effects of climate change.
This is where Carbon180 comes in. They’re a new breed of NGO working together with policymakers, scientists, farmers and businesses to initiate ambitious carbon removal projects. By exploring innovative carbon removal technologies, by fostering a new generation of ‘entrepreneurs’ in the sector through their fellowship scheme, and by working closely with farmers to increase our soil’s natural carbon capturing potential, they are striding towards a carbon-negative planet.
Why we think they’re great
We love that Carbon180 are completely rethinking carbon by exploring the economic opportunity of carbon tech. Yes, too much carbon is a bad thing. But can waste-carbon be used for good? The organisation is currently looking at how waste CO2 can be used to make building materials in an environmentally beneficial way and that’s pretty exciting.
